Attendees learn about the college and career ready program |
College and Career Ready Program
Built on service learning
programs, the Central Arizona Vocational Institute of Technology (CAVIT) has
five successful years under its belt teaching high-level technical skills to
students participating in CTSO organizations around the state. Enrolling 465
students with nine training programs and six established clinics, CAVIT
operates under the premise that students completing their programs will have an
88% percent positive placement rate for students after they graduate.
The clinics are run by the students,
offering them experience in running the office, taking care of inventory,
making appointments, taking payment and establishing those much-needed
technical skills that will catapult them into the business community – and more
importantly – offer services free to the community.
Established clinics include:
aesthetics, cosmetology, dental, massage spa, medical wellness and an animal
day spa. Advanced students can earn as many as 14 college credits while in the
program and dual enrollment is available.
As a 2013 Golden Bell Winner in
the district-wide category, CAVIT has provided more than 7,000 services to the
community, all from students who are learning technical skills in a real-world
environment.
