Dr. Debbi Burdick |
Dr. Debbi Burdick, president of the ASA Superintendents’ Division, called the packed meeting to order Thursday. She introduced Dr. Kay Hunnicutt, ASA director of legal services, who reviewed suggested changes to the policy on the evaluation of superintendents. Dr. Hunnicutt also addressed questions she has received from superintendents regarding payment of their dependent coverage and their own medical insurance as it relates to the Healthcare Protection Act.
Sabrina Vasquez, legislative liaison, discussed the 2014 public policy position guide, and reviewed topics that might be addressed during the next legislative session. She also talked about a referendum State Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal may propose, although probably not in 2014, and encouraged those present to review the proposal and give feedback to Mr. Huppenthal.
Dr. Burdick distributed a Community Advocacy Outreach Survey and asked superintendents to complete it and return it to her during the conference.
